It has always been my dream to become a florist! Taking Mary's course at Toronto flower school was an amazing experience. Mary has such a passion for the industry and such a wonderful outlook on life! She is an amazing teacher! Not only did I learn flowers names, but learned skills during those three weeks that Mary has spent years learning! She does not stop at any length, ensuring that her students leave the course with an umpteen amount of information. As for after the course, it did not end there with my certificate,I have never met anyone who has shown such care and continues to provide support and shares her knowledge after her students complete the course. I would recommend Toronto Flower school to anyone looking to become a florist. Mary is truly a wonderful, patient and kind teacher and soul! She is truly a GEM! Mary's passion for the industry is truly evident from the moment you walk into the floral school studio. Thank you Mary for all your knowledge and support... I am sad that my classes have ended; however, I will definitely come back for more lessons!

I went into this class not knowing what to expect and I left with floral industry know-how AND a full time design job in Toronto. Mary not only teaches you all of her tricks of the trade but she genuinely cares that her students succeed. She recommended me for a job after only 2 classes, I went in and was able to wow them so much with what I had been taught that I was offered the job on the spot. This class quite literally changed my entire life and I couldn't be more grateful for it!

I’ve never met anyone as genuine as Mary. It’s hard to describe the incredible experience I had at the Toronto Flower School in just a few words. Practical, confidence-building, fun, hands-on, challenging, inspiring…and on and on. On top of the beautiful flowers you walk away with from each class, Mary’s guidance and expert knowledge totally rock. Both during the course and after, her industry insights are fantastic — and she shares them without hesitation. Thanks to my time at the Toronto Flower School, I’ve created arrangements ranging from small posies for friends to massive funeral arrangements for a close family member. As a microbiologist, my professional career is far from anything artistic but Mary gives you the confidence to do it on your own. I did the flowers for my own wedding over 7 months after taking Mary's course and she was very responsive in helping me figure out what I should order and how many based on a sample picture I showed her and the # of tables + bridesmaids I had. Absolutely no regrets and I'm just grateful I did the TFS. The course is very hands on. Almost every minute, we had our hands on flowers and practiced everything from prepping, arranging and tying off arrangements. Theory, tips and tricks were discussed as we were working on flowers so Mary wasted no time in sharing her knowledge. I wasn't stressed doing my wedding flowers as a first project because everything I needed to do was practised in class. She stands by her words when she says she's available after the course for any advice we need. You're paying for the course and the beautiful flower arrangements you get to take home but you're also getting a personal consultant to help you with your own projects...long after the course is over. Thanks a million, Mary. I couldn't have done it without you.

I loved my time with Mary! She’s really open to teaching techniques that you actually want to learn and utilizing products that you tell her you want to work with. She constantly changes the curriculum so it’s different every time and you get to use seasonal local products as well! The best part is the mentorship you receive afterwards. I also went to Canadian Institute of Floral Design and didn’t receive any continued education, it was like you were done the class and forgotten. I’ve also been able to use the studio for my weddings which had been phenomenal. I like her no BS approach, instead of using old school techniques that take FOREVER (Canadian institute of floral Design was a lot of old school wiring and taping) she taught us modern techniques that would save us time and money, using flowers that are on trend, not alstroemerias and Daisies. Also, in response to the previous review, she never promised she would get us a discount, but she does very graciously allow alums to use her account so that you can order flowers (which you can’t do unless you have a business account and pay a yearly fee). All-in-all, Mary has been a fantastic resource and I’m so grateful for the mentorship she has given over the past few years. I’ve been able to efficiently grow my business, and I have offers to freelance with incredible designers in the city. I also know quite a few thriving floral businesses that have all taken her class, that’s how I heard of her! If you’re on the fence, call her and talk to her and ask about upcoming classes and what you want to learn! She will tell you straight up if it’s right for you or not!

This course was amazing because of so many facets, but especially Mary. She is so clearly dedicated to having her students succeed in the floral design industry that she goes above and beyond to be helpful to her students even after they graduate. I learned so much in her class and feel comfortable taking on my own clients knowing that if I ever need help, Mary is there for me. I would totally recommend this class to anyone interested. I loved it!

I reached out to Mary at Toronto Flower School to pick up some new techniques and get a better handle on garden style arrangements for my own small shop. What I got was a life changer - a day of hands on building, new 'tricks' and advice to make my workday more efficient, a rundown of my website and social media, discussion and Q&A for any business and floristry question I could think of, and anecdotes and examples you can only get from years of study and work. I highly recommend Mary and Toronto Flower School not just for new designers (although I wish I had met her years ago!) but also for people who have been working with flowers for a while and need some mentorship and a friendly kick to take their work to the next level.

I went into this course not knowing anything about the floral industry and came out knowing the different names of flowers, the do's and don't of floral design and much more. Mary is a wonderful teacher and makes each class fun and exciting. She goes above and beyond just teaching you on how to make bouquets, and arrangements to teaching you on how much flowers to order for a project, how much to charge, what are the best flowers for certain projects etc. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who is interested in learning floral arrangements/design.

I had a friend recommend this course if I wanted to learn a good floral foundation in only 3 weeks! And I learned that and much more! Mary is an amazing florist and has an abundance of knowledge to pass on, from trends and style and tricks and tips, to Practical pricing and business smarts. Besides the classes being very fun and full of energy, one of the most valuable things is always having access to Mary when you need her. She is already giving me advice and consulting with me on my first wedding (how many flowers to order, what's in season, price tangle, style, etc) and she's been a life saver! Definitely not gonna find any other course like it!

About to start private lesson #3 and so far thoroughly enjoying being Mary's student. Laughter and learning - what could be better?! Mary is a great, and patient teacher and I'm learning a great deal. Highly recommend.

Today was my last day at the Toronto Flower school and it was bittersweet. As I look forward to embracing everything I learned the last few weeks and starting my own floral journey, I am going to miss the wonderful ladies I had the pleasure meeting and working with. It was a sad day when my time at Toronto Flower School ended. I learned a great deal from Mary about current trends, current and previous mechanical techniques and styles. I appreciated that all my emailed questions relating to business and technique were answered promptly and always included either a contact or a link. This is a hands on course that throws you right in and allows you to blossom with guidance. I look forward to future classes and workshops that the Toronto Flower School will be offering. Mary is a true gem, from whom I could not have been more privileged to learn. From the very first hour, it is immediately apparent that she sincerely cares about her students and their successes. She is immensely generous with her knowledge about the flower industry and the techniques you need to know to thrive within it, with her time and attention, kindness, and patience. There is a finesse to her that enables her to provide honest but gentle feedback about your work which only serves to make you better. She is very perceptive of each student's individual talents and unique styles and draws the very best out from them.
