2026 INTENSIVE
(20 HOURS)
Our flagship Intensive design course has provided up to the minute training for students ranging from beginners who have never handled florals to wedding and event designers wanting to upgrade their skills.
At TFS we teach flower farmers, future home studio florists, students planning to open professional facilities, event florists, and simply those who love and enjoy flowers and design and want to learn more.
At TFS you will learn your foundation skills and week by week move into more intricate and professional design work.
Our goal is to teach you all the necessary current design and floristry techniques while developing your skill and nurturing your own talents and aesthetic.
The business of floristry is rapidly moving forward. So many in the profession have seen a huge and positive shift. Our projects will take your learning skill beyond next level.
We cover everything, and if you miss anything, we are a phone call or text away. We fully encourage our students to contact us any time during or after our courses to discuss and resolve any issues you may have. Our mentorship program is part of your curriculum and we honour it with enthusiasm. You invested in us, now we are invested in you!

2026 INTERMEDIATE
(PICK 3)
Our Intermediate (Pick 3) is a course designed for students opting to select and attend three of our four intensive classes.
With all the same exciting projects with lux and abundant florals students have the option of selecting their three favorite classes to achieve their goals in floristry.

OVERVIEW OF INTENSIVE AND INTERMEDIATE (PICK 3)

CLASS ONE (12pm to 5pm)
Students will learn with the most popular florals to date as well as the best processing and care techniques. Students will learn about armatures and floral foam types plus receive their exclusive details on our preferred wholesalers to which you will have immediate access. Students will learn about purchasing and wholesale protocol. All questions are gladly answered.
PROJECT 1 – SPIRAL TIED BOUQUETS
Students will learn the proper hand tying skills essential to floristry. Repetition and re development techniques will be applied as you design 3 to 4 tied bouquets!
PROJECT 2 NEW– VESSEL GRIDDING AND FLOWER CARE
Students will learn the technique of professional gridding. There is a proper way to grid and we will teach you the professional technique every florist should know. Besides gridding students will learn techniques about the proper usage of Oasis Foam, standard and instant, The Oshun Pouch, Agora Foam and chicken wire. As well students will learn about the proper handling and cutting of flowers. Students will learn the purchasing and rehydrating treatments of Hydrangeas and Roses., as well as other local and imported florals.
PROJECT 3 NEW – VASE DESIGN
Students will design their florals in a florist tape grid. Students will learn about height and proportion as well sustainability and delivery endurance.
CLASS TWO (12pm to 5pm)
Floral art is quickly evolving and our all new New School Design class will keep you current with two exquisite designs. These designs are being created by top designers around the globe. Now you too will learn the nuances of these artful designs.
PROJECT 1 NEW – NEW SCHOOL BRIDAL BOUQUET
The evolution of wedding bouquets is now part of the Toronto Flower School curriculum. Contemporary botanical bouquets are here and our students are champing at the bit to learn them. Exciting new techniques combined with exquisite florals make this bouquet style a unique art form.
PROJECT 2 – NEW SCHOOL DESIGN
More and more event and wedding florists are creating beautifully sculptured designs for their clients. Designs stacked and layered looking unique yet architectural. Fruit and florals abound, this project is an absolute must for the creative designer making a mark on their field. Students will learn design and colour theory, enhancing their knowledge of these beautiful designs.
CLASS THREE (12pm to 5pm)
Learn the proper techniques to design the beauty of garden styled florals and contemporary body florals.
PROJECT 1 – GARDEN STYLE ARRANGEMENT
In this class students will make the beautiful Garden Style arrangement, plump with open florals and wispy foliages. By now skills have begun to develop and these stunning and intricate designs of exquisite blooms will become exciting to design with. At this point students are more confident and thrilled with their success. Line work, colour bridging, advancements and recession plus more will be taught in this class as well as foliage and floral selection. Students will learn the complexities of making this very specific design look whimsical and effortless.
PROJECT 2 – ARMATURE BOUQUET DESIGN
Students will make an impressive and abundant bridal bouquet using chicken wire as an armature. This technique is currently being used around the world and really guarantees great design success. This technique is a fantastic bouquet go-to technique to learn. Beautiful florals and foliage always provided.
PROJECT 3 – CORSAGES AND BOUTONNIERES
Students will learn and create contemporary corsages and boutonnieres. Students will see a demo of a contemporary boutonniere. Techniques moving into the future of body florals. Always tracking the latest in body wear mechanics, we strive to keep you on top of your game!
CLASS FOUR (12pm to 5pm)
In class 4 we will focus on large installation designs. Installations designs have become hugely popular in today’s wedding and event industry and a must know for any florist. You will learn all new techniques from start to finish from the immediate strapping of the bases to all the proper installation techniques including colour and texture knowledge. Start to finish you will be amazed at what you can create!
PROJECT 1 – MANTEL DESIGN
Mantel installations have become huge in our industry! Grand and gorg, bulging with lux florals, foliage and moss. At Toronto Flower School our students will have the opportunity to design a full fireplace, top and bottom. We have added this beauty for you so you may not only learn all the techniques involved, but have amazing pics for your websites and social media! We, as always, will discuss wholesale to retail markups, the amount of florals and foliages needed as well as delivery and set up fees.
PROJECT 2 – CEREMONY DESIGN
Students will create the most on trend ceremony and event installations with lux and abundant blooms and foliage. You will learn the critical and necessary mechanics to create such pieces and where to wholesale source your blooms. Costing, appropriate florals, creative design and technique will all be on focus. Your eyes won’t believe what your hands have done.
PROJECT 3 – FLORAL MEADOWS AND HEDGE DESIGN
By far, the most current wedding design today! Meadow markers are becoming more popular than ever! Students will make stunning meadows learning many design techniques. Stone application, chicken wire and foam are all discussed and applied. Critical mechanics are discussed regarding weight. Our markers are designed to match your pillars in project 2 making for gorge social and website pics.
PROJECT 4 – HANGING GARDEN INSTALLATION
Whether we call it a hanging installment or a floral chandelier the final result is pure beauty. You have seen these dreamy hanging chandeliers dripping with decadent flowers everywhere and you will have the hands on opportunity to make one in this class! Wholesale to retail markups, flower and foliage quantities plus set up and delivery costs all discussed. Students will learn etiquette regarding site visits to the proper mechanics from base armature to cable, line and all other equipment needed for such an installation.
PROJECT 5 – CHICKEN WIRE DESIGN
Here students will learn to make a stunning floral arrangement by using chicken wire as your armature. Learn the ease with which chicken wire allows while learning the proper design elements of technique. Eco-conscious design is a huge element of the current floral design climate, and designing in floral mesh or chicken wire is the first step of your sustainability journey.
MENTORSHIP
Your mentorship shall last as long as you require. Students may call, email or come by with any floristry related concerns. From wedding quotes to flower recognition, sustainability, seasonality or design help you are free and welcomed to access us. Students receive a TFS discount on all upcoming events and seminars.
